You can file for bankruptcy without going to a bankruptcy court. The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention Act has established a procedure for individuals to file for bankruptcy without going to the bankruptcy court. They have created a procedure called “Chapter 7 bankruptcy”.

There is no reason why you cannot get a credit score before you file for bankruptcy. Bankruptcy is a separation of debt that happens to save your home. So you will get the credit score within two days. But one must be very careful that you are sure you are not in the process of filing bankruptcy. When you have a lawyer review your finances you will get a credit score.

How long does bankruptcy stay on public record?
