What are the basic Braces Tips & Care routine?

This is going to depend on the guidance given by your orthodontist, but this is what most will say, and what mine said:

-brush longer than you would without braces, and really take your time. Also, brush above and below the brackets more than flat on them.

-Don’t eat anything too chewy, sticky, or tough. (gum, taffy, and caramels are absolute no-nos, and be careful with gummies)

-be careful with things that are too hard. (only eat one piece of popcorn at a time, and take your time eating Doritos and Tortilla chips.)

-Wear a mouthguard when playing sports like baseball/softball and soccer. Being hit in the mouth without braces is bad enough, but with braces, treat your mouth like it’s glass. I have braces and have not been hit in the mouth. But, my brother’s friend also has braces, and he was tossing a full Gatorade bottle back and forth with my brother (probably not the best idea lol). The Gatorade bottle hit his mouth, and he had to get 2 root canals. Not to mention the major setback it made in his treatment progress. So, whatever you do, do NOT let anything happen to your teeth.

All of these things will make the length of time you have braces shorter because you will lose fewer brackets. And less broken and lost brackets= shorter and more pleasant treatment.
